Scott C. Houldin, Principal and President
Scott began his career at Ericson Insurance in 1984 after graduating from Denison University. At that time, Ericson's primary focus was personal insurance. Scott's work in risk management, underwriting and claims administration resulted in development and growth of the commercial lines division at Ericson.
He developed a passion and expertise for environmental risk management and quickly became a leader within that field. In 1996 Scott founded Twin Elms Environmental Insurance Agency. At Twin Elms, Scott has assisted buyers, sellers, lenders, developers, public utilities and municipalities by structuring and placing environmental insurance products related to brownfield redevelopment. At that time, Scott turned over general management responsibilities to his brothers, continuing to manage and grow his environmental commercial book. He has authored numerous articles for real estate and insurance trade publications, and conducted a multitude of seminars on utilizing and structuring environmental insurance. Karl A. Touet, Principal and Director of Sales & Marketing
Karl has over 27 years of extensive environmental experience. His areas of expertise include environmental liability insurance, real estate transactions and developments, REITs, M&A, private equity, financial institutions, environmental contractors & consultants, Superfund, construction industry, oil and gas, renewable energy, healthcare, educational facilities, manufacturing, and hospitality.
For nine of those years, Karl was a Vice President in the Environmental Division at AIG where his responsibilities included senior management, client development and marketing throughout the US and Canada. During his tenure with AIG, Karl served as a senior underwriter, regional manager and zonal manager. Prior to AIG, Karl spent 18 years in environmental consulting with a focus in chemistry, risk assessment, investigation and remediation at national environmental consulting and brownfield redevelopment firms. He provided environmental due diligence, remedial cost estimates, and assessment of environmental risk liability transfer for brownfield real estate transactions and the procurement of environmental liability insurance for risk management associated with real estate investments and development.
